The importance of high quality forage

Badminton Pedigree Sheep Mix 20kg

A highly palatable coarse mix, scientifically formulated for sheep of all ages, including lambs, rams and ram lambs.

Rolled oats and other highly digestible cereals provide energy to meet the elevated requirements of pregnant and lactating ewes as well as growing lambs. Vegetable oils support milk production and quality as well as improving skin and wool condition for those animals being prepared for the show ring. With a special mineral inclusion to help prevent urinary calculi and copper toxicity in housed rams and ram lambs.

Feeding Recommendations

Lambs - Introduce Pedigree Sheep Mix carefully, as soon as they show an interest, and increase to a maximum of 0.5kg per head per day.

Adults - Ewes and rams may be fed from 0.5 – 0.75kg of cubes or mix per day. Working rams are best fed up to 1.5kg of Pedigree Sheep Mix per day. In-lamb and lactating ewes should be fed 0.5 – 1.25kg per day.

Badminton Country Stock Mix 20kg

A convenient all-round smallholder ration to suit all ruminants. Provides highly digestible energy which will meet the increased demands of pregnant, lactating or growing stock, or simply supplement that provided by forage. Supplies good quality protein sources to support production and development. Contains a full spectrum of vitamins, minerals and trace elements to support health and well-being.
Feeding Recommendations

Cattle - Country Mix can be fed to growing cattle from 6 months of age.  For beef animals, if grass is limited or when forage is insufficient to sustain the required growth, 0.5 - 1kg of Country Mix or Country Cubes can be fed for every 100kg of live weight. For dairy cows, ad lib good quality grass or forage can be supplemented with 0.4kg of Country Mix or Country Cubes for every litre of milk produced. Country Mix or Cubes can be introduced during the last 3 - 4 weeks of a cow’s pregnancy at a rate of up to 1kg per day, depending on breed.

Sheep/ Goats - Lambs and kids may be carefully introduced to Country Mix or Cubes as soon as they show an interest in concentrate feed. In-lamb/kid and lactating ewes/goats may have their forage supplemented with 0.5 - 1.25kg per day of Country Mix or Cubes.

Others - Other animals may be supplemented with Country Mix or Cubes at a rate of 0.5 - 0.75kg per day, depending on size and quality of forage.

Trident Sugar Beet Pellets 25kg

A mainstay of British livestock feeding since the 1920s, Trident sugar beet feed is the most effective source of digestible fibre-based energy available for ruminants, horses and ponies*.

Supplied as a robust dry pellet (in bulk or bagged), as dry shreds or as a moist feed, there’s a Trident sugar beet feed to suit every feeding system, from simple feeding out in troughs to mixer wagons and mechanical in-parlour and out-of-parlour feeders.

High levels of palatability will drive feed intakes, whilst the slowly available energy helps buffer against digestive upsets in high-starch diets, leading to improved feed conversion efficiency and increased animal performance. It’s the ideal feed on which to base simple, ‘rumen-friendly’ mixes for sheep, lambs or youngstock, and a key ingredient in high digestible-fibre blends and high performance beef and dairy rations.

Metabolisable Energy 12.5 – 13.0 (MJ ME/kg DM) Crude Protein 8.2 – 10.5 (% of DM) Neutral Detergent Fibre 32 - 43 (% of DM)

Digestible fibre – buffers against acidosis, the ideal partner to high-starch feeds.

Highly palatable – drives growth and performance by increasing feed intakes.

Low protein – complements higher protein, low-fibre feeds like cereals and low-fibre forages.

Energy supply – slowly available digestible fibre balances energy supply for optimum digestion.

Molassed options – offer additional energy as sugars to stimulate fibre digestion in ruminants.
