TOP 5 Tips for summer paddock care

TOP 5 Tips for summer paddock care

1 Poo Picking - Keeping your paddocks clear of droppings not only improves your grazing, but also reduces parasite numbers such as worms & flies.

2 Harrowing - Harrowing helps to remove shallow rooted weeds, spreads any remaining droppings to improve grazing and also levels out any ruts created in the wet weather.

3 Fencing - Now is a good time to check your electric fencing, especially if you have horses that like to go through it! Making sure you have a good current running through, with no overgrown greenery making contact gives you the best chance of keeping your horses where they're supposed to be!

4 Water Supply - Removing debris that could possibly contaminate your horse's water supply is vital. Algae may also build up quickly in warmer weather so it's essential that you check and clean your trough regularly.

5 Grazing Rotation - Take advantage of the summer grass growth by rotating your grazing. This will help with your winter grass supply, and also give you a chance to fertilise and seed as necessary whilst your horses are off certain sections of your field.
